The Heavy Metal Update (previously known as The Big One) is an upcoming update for Indie Pogo, set to add a large variety of content, such as a new character, a new stage and plenty of character reworks.
This patch is Part 1 of this giant 2-part patch. It introduces newcomer Bullet Kin, as well as a complete overhaul of the game, including new battle mechanics, modes, stages, and features.
Update Content
Additions
- All characters will be given new close-range Melees, as well as Side Specials.
- New grab mechanic, already tested in Beta 0.0.0.2 and Beta 0.0.0.3.
- A new character: Bullet Kin.
- 2 new stages: Canabalt Skyline, and Well Caverns.
- New feature: Bubble Swap. This feature allows players to change characters mid-match while bubbled.
- New multiplayer mode: Crown Pogo. Players fight for a crown that spawns onto the stage, building up points that increase over time.
- New single-player mode: Infinite Pogo. Players will fight an endless onslaught of CPU fighters that grow stronger as the game progresses.
- All characters' arcade paths have been changed. No other info has been given at this time.
- Mass balance changes.
- New trophies.
- Remaining Kickstarter NPCs added.
- Blockman
- Blockman gets an entrance animation where he sips margarita on a chair, then jump off of it, like in The Blocks Cometh's trailer.
- Blockman might be able to perform his grounded charge in different angles.
- Blockman gets a new Up Aerial, when his block is already out, where he performs a headbutt.
- CommanderVideo
- CommanderVideo's Down Aerial will be changed in some way. His Down Aerial can also attack counter-clockwise.
- Fishy
- Fishy gets an entrance animation where they come out of a closet in which the player chooses Fishy's color in Shütshimi.
- Fishy will get a mobility nerf, noticeably their roll being slower due to them being a Megaton fighter.
- Fishy will be able to use the Machine Gun from Shütshimi.
- Jack
- One of Jack's moves has been replaced by a new drill attack. It is currently unknown what move it replaces or how the new move functions.
- Jack now has a lightsaber. It is unknown how it functions, or how it is accessed.
- Lilac
- Lilac gets an entrance animation where she drops from a plane driven by her friends.
- Lilac's grounded charge can be oriented left or right instead of only right.
- Lilac can now run. It is unknown how it is achieved.
- Orcane
- Orcane gets an entrance animation where he spawns on a revive platform similar to Rivals of Aether's
- Orcane's Down Aerial now relies on an ammo system to spit bubbles. Not using the move regenerates the ammos in large quantity.
- Penelope
- Penelope's changes are unknown yet.
- Shovel Knight
- Shovel Knight gets an entrance animation where he jumps on the stage and lifts his shovel up in the air, similar to the beginning of a level in Shovel of Hope.
- Shovel Knight seem to be able to parkour really high up, but the method to achieve this is unknown.
- Shovel Knight will get a mobility nerf, noticeably their roll being slower due to them being a Heavyweight fighter.
- Stardrop
- Stardrop is getting a new move where he swipes his arm above himself. It is unknown where this move is used.
- Teslakid
- Teslakid's changes are unknown yet.
- Velocispider
- Velocispider gets an entrance animation where he comes from one of his egg.
- Velocispider is able to walk and shoot on walls. It is unknown how this can be achieved.
- Viridian
- Viridian gets an entrance animation where they warp out of a portal.
- Viridian is able to parkour on ceilings.
- Viridian can get other words to pop up instead of "AVOID" in their Up Aerial.
- Welltaro
- Welltaro can now use Triple as part of his moveset, but the method to achieve this is unknown.
- Welltaro can shoot his Shotgun sideways.
- Zorbié
- Zorbié gets a new helmet coming straight from his game. What the helmet does and how to obtain it are unknown yet.
- Zorbié gets a new fork coming straight from his game. What the fork does and how to obtain it are unknown yet.
